Bruce has been racing on the Bay since 1980. He initially owned and raced an Islander 36 and served as Commodore of that fleet, then moved into IOR in 1985 with his 40 foot X-Yacht, Arbitrage.  In 1999, he bought a J/105 and also named it Arbitrage.  He then worked his way up over a period of years and became a competitive member of the local and national fleets, winning the SF Bay and Narragansett Bay season championships as well as St. Francis Rolex Big Boat Series, Storm Trysail Rolex Block Island Race Week, and the J/105 North Americans.  After a career in tax advantaged investing in hedge funds, he now volunteers his time as US Match Racing Area G (NorCal) representative to promote match racing on the West Coast, and as President of the SF Marina Harbor Association, an advocacy group for users of the SF Small Boat Marina. He has also provided extensive support for the St Francis Foundation through the loan of his home in Mexico for the annual auction.  Bruce earned a Bachelor’s in Government from Cornell, and served on the University’s Board of Trustees, then earned an MBA from Harvard Business School.
